Tattoos by maria

Thought we would talk about tattoos today, one of my favorite forms of art. Art is about expression, and tattoos are no exception. Let me start by saying I know there are people who don’t like tattoos, piercings, or body modification in general. Every one is entitled to there opinion, but no bashing on my page please.
I have had a thing for tattoos and piercings seance a very young age, at 12 deciding to be a tattooist. I have bin tattooing about 3 years now off and on, self taught. All three photos here are tattoos I have done.  Tattoos are a beautiful form of living art, and just like other forms a wonderful way to express your self. Be it to commemorate a lost loved one, celebrate our achievements, or just because we wont it, tattoos are here to stay. Being around for hundreds of years tattoos have given people another way to express themselves, a right of passage, killed, and on the list goes. look through history at every type of people and at one time or another, or even in one form or another you will find tattoos and piercings.
Before I end this post I wont to share a poem I wrote about tattoos, after an old woman told me I was going to hell for desecrating the lords temple. funny right! I have shared it before but it fits so here we go.
You look at me that way
  in disgust and disdain
 I’m pierced and tattooed
 I must be insane
But who are you to judge
when you kneel down and pray
Just because our beliefs are not the same
We are not so different you and I
for we are all the same when we die
Lets talk about tattoos, what are they to you? Do you love them, are they not for you? Tell us how you feel about tattoos!
I have 10 piercings and 11 tattoos, 2 unfinished, 3 in planing will make 14 tattoos and I don’t plan to stop there!

About artfulhelix

I'm a mother to three beautiful boys, 8 years, 2 years, and 1 year old, all there birthdays in April with mine (very busy month). I am a wife to a wonderful man who supports every thing I want to do. I have 10 piercings and 11 tattoos, more tattoos coming soon. I am an artist, painting, tattooing, sculpting (haven't done that for a long time), poetry, and a few small crafts. As an artist I felt writing was the next logical step for me. I am enjoying every minute of it, writing, blogging (never thought I would blog), and critiquing. I not only want to talk about my book and the writing proses, but art in general in my blog. I would like to share a poem I wrote a few years ago, but is so me. I came up with it when a very old woman came up to me on the side walk and said " Do you know you are going to hell?" laughing a little inside I said "No, why am I going to hell?" "Because you have desecrated the lords temple with all your piercings and tattoos!" She looks so serious when she said this. I said "I'm not desecrating, I'm decorating!" well that made her mad of course, and she stomped off. later I wrote this: You look at me that way in disgust and disdain I’m pierced and tattooed I must be insane But who are you to judge when you kneel down and pray Just because our beliefs are not the same We are not so different you and I for we are all the same when we die This is nothing against religion, merely about judgment in general. Can't wait to share more of what I love and who I am.

  1. I love tattoos. I was afraid to get one because I’m sensitive to pain LOL. But for my 29th birthday, I finally got one on my hand. It’s a yin/yang symbol with blue and purple feathers to represent my American Indian side.

It’s cool that you have many tattoos. I have at least 2 more I’d like to get (all small of course). I didn’t cry with my first one, but my facial expressions weren’t pretty.

    Keep smiling,
    Yawatta
